Qianling Park & Hongfu Temple
Gui Yang, Guizhou
A 426-hectare forested park on Qianling Hill built around Hongfu Temple, Guizhou's largest Zen Buddhist monastery, originally founded in 1667.
Why visit Qianling Park & Hongfu Temple?
The park itself dates only to 1957, but the temple at its summit has been an active monastery for over 350 years, rebuilt and expanded repeatedly — a working religious site rather than a heritage display.
How to experience it
Trails wind up through the forest to the temple; budget two to three hours for the round trip on foot.
Tip
Wildlife (including monkeys near the park entrance) is used to visitors — keep food out of sight to avoid unwanted attention.
