Siberian Tiger Park

Ha Er Bin, Heilongjiang

A large conservation park on the north bank of the Songhua River housing several hundred Siberian tigers, the largest population of the subspecies anywhere in the world.

Why visit Siberian Tiger Park?

Unlike a conventional zoo, the park reverses the usual arrangement: tigers roam semi-wild enclosures while visitors view them from caged buses, giving a much closer and more active look at the animals than standard enclosures allow.

How to experience it

Ride the wire-mesh bus tour through the main enclosures, then walk the smaller viewing platform area on foot. Feeding sessions (sometimes involving live prey, which some visitors find upsetting) are offered separately and are entirely optional to see.

Tip

It's outside the city center and cold in winter even inside the bus — dress as if you'll be outdoors, and budget half a day including transport.
