Why visit Window of the World?
It's a lighter, family-oriented counterpoint to Changsha's spicier food scene and heavier history sites, and one of the more popular domestic theme parks in central China, drawing millions of visitors a year.
How to experience it
Plan half a day to walk between the landmark reproductions and catch one of the scheduled cultural or dance performances; the park is large enough that a rough route plan beforehand saves a lot of backtracking.
Tip
Weekday visits are far less crowded than weekends and Chinese holidays, when domestic tour groups fill the park.
