Qing Dao/Histoire

Zhanqiao Pier

Qing Dao, Shandong

A 440-metre pier topped with an octagonal pavilion, extending out into Qingdao Bay from the edge of the old town.

Pourquoi visiter Zhanqiao Pier ?

Built in 1892 as a 200-metre Qing naval wharf and extended twice, most recently to its current length in 1931, it's the single most-photographed structure in Qingdao and the anchor point most people picture when they picture the city's skyline.

Comment en profiter

Walk the full length to the pavilion at the end, then look back toward shore for the classic skyline shot, especially near sunset.

Astuce

It gets very crowded on summer weekends and during the Beer Festival — early morning is calmer.
