• Nanshan Buddhist Cultural Park

  A large Buddhist cultural and temple complex about 40km from central Sanya, built around a 108-metre statue of Guanyin standing in the sea — one of the tallest statues in the world.

• Tianya Haijiao

  'The Edge of the Sky, Corner of the Sea' — a stretch of coastline about 24km west of Sanya marked by large granite boulders inscribed with the site's name, a symbol of remoteness since imperial times.
