Hubu Alley
武汉, 湖北
A short historic street near the Yellow Crane Tower dense with breakfast stalls selling reganmian (hot dry noodles) and other Wuhan morning specialties, in business since dawn for over a century.
为什么要去Hubu Alley?
Wuhan takes breakfast more seriously than almost anywhere else in China — locals eat standing up or walking (guo zao, 'passing through breakfast') rather than sitting down, and Hubu Alley is the most concentrated place to try the full range: reganmian tossed in sesame paste, doupi (a savory rice-and-bean pastry), and hot soy milk.
怎么体验
Arrive early — by mid-morning many stalls have sold out of their best items and closed for the day. Order a bowl of reganmian and eat it the local way, mixed quickly before the sesame sauce settles, standing at a shared counter.
小贴士
This is a breakfast destination specifically — don't plan a lunch or dinner visit expecting the same energy or selection.
