Hongyadong

Chong Qing, Chongqing Municipality

An eleven-story complex of stilted buildings stacked up a cliff face on the north bank of the Jialing River, built in the traditional 'diaojiaolou' style. Lit up at night, it's one of the most photographed views in Chongqing.

¿Por qué visitar Hongyadong?

Hongyadong is the single image most people associate with Chongqing's cliffside skyline — golden-lit tiers of traditional wooden architecture stacked against a backdrop of glass towers. It looks almost unreal after dark, which is deliberate: the complex is built and lit specifically for the night view, and photos rarely do the scale justice in person.

Cómo disfrutarlo

Arrive around dusk so you see both the daylight structure and the lighting transition. Inside are several floors of shops, snack stalls, and restaurants, but most visitors come for the exterior view rather than what's inside — the best photo angle is from the pedestrian bridge across the road, or from the riverside walkway below.

Consejo

It gets crowded on weekend evenings; a weekday visit or an earlier arrival makes it easier to get a clean photo. Combine it with a walk along the Jialing riverside promenade.
