Kashgar Sunday Livestock Market

喀什, 新疆

A weekly trading market on the edge of the city where farmers from across the region buy and sell sheep, cattle, and camels much as they have for centuries along this stretch of the Silk Road.

为什么要去Kashgar Sunday Livestock Market?

Kashgar's old town has been heavily rebuilt for tourism in recent years, which makes the livestock market one of the few places left where the region's actual rural economy is still visible and unstaged. It runs on the same weekly rhythm it always has, driven by Uyghur and Kyrgyz farming communities from the surrounding oases, not by a tourism schedule.

怎么体验

It's busiest and most authentic in the early morning, roughly 8-11am on Sundays, on the eastern outskirts of the city — a short taxi ride from the old town. Bargaining, animal handling, and trading happen in dense, crowded lanes between pens, so it's more of an observational walk-through than a sit-down attraction.

小贴士

Ask permission before photographing traders or animals up close — a nod or small gesture goes a long way, and it's a working market, not a photo set.
